This programme reveals the life cycle of the RS27 engine blocks, from design to recycling, and how these sorcerers of the mechanical ceaselessly drive development and increase performance.

An exceptional 2011 season ended at the Montmelo circuit near Barcelona. Some categories produced incredibly tight, nail-biting battles between drivers, while others saw total domination by a single, outstanding champion. Despite high quality throughout the Formula Renault 3.5 field the Carlin Motorsport drivers, Robert Wickens and Jean-Eric Vergne, fought a no-holds-barred duel at the top of the pack throughout the season. In Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, Carlos Sainz Jr was the pre-season favourite, but the title eventually went to Robin Frijns in an action-packed championship. There was less suspense in the Eurocup Mégane Trophy, however, as Swiss driver Stefano Comini dominated the season from start to finish. The debut season of the Clio Eurocup was a successful one with eight spectacular races, battles throughout the field and an outstanding champion in Nicolas Milan.
Watched by a 62,000 strong crowd, the final Formula Renault 3.5 Series race of the season could hardly have been more eventful. The eagerly awaited duel between Carlin team-mates and championship rivals Robert Wickens and Jean-Eric Vergne was cut short when they clashed at the start, with Wickens forced to retire. The Frenchman battled on, however, and was virtual champion before having to pull out himself just ten minutes from the end, allowing the Canadian to become the seventh man to win the FR 3.5 Series. Claiming the race victory – his first in the discipline – was home favourite Albert Costa.
Starting in 2007, the partnership between Renault and Red Bull has grown very quickly into one of the most successful engine-chassis partnerships in Formula One and in Renault’s long history in the sport. The strong collaboration between Renault Sport F1 and the Red Bull Racing team enabled to put on track a wickedly effective and reliable chassis-engine package. After paying off in 2010, this partnership persists, and the RS27 engine powers one more time Red Bull Racing on top in 2011. After the celebration for Sebastian Vettel's title following Japan Grand Prix, it's time to celebrate the 10th Constructor's title of Renault's history in Formula 1.
Renault powers Formula One Champions and Renault TV is proud to add our congratulations to Sebastian Vettel for winning the Formula One World Championship 2011. In this programme you will meet sebastian and other members of the Renault team as they briefly explain part of what has made this such a fantastic season.
Renault Sport flags were flying proudly on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife and Formula One circuits, as the legendary German venue hosted this 5th round of the World Series by Renault. Friday’s Renault Sport Day was a great success, and saw records fall in the Mégane RS Trophy. Yet another record was broken on Saturday evening when 127 Renault 4s gathered on the track. Finally, the weekend hit new highs in terms of excitement and suspense, with 50,000 fans braving the elements to enjoy an action-packed eight-race programme. There was an extra treat for those who came, as Nicolas Prost put the Lotus Renault GP R30 through its paces in a Formula One demonstration.

The Paul Ricard HTTT pulled in the crowds once again, 60,000 race fans flocked to the three-day meet, dispite the poor weather on the Sunday. It was the biggest attendance seen at the French track since the final round of the 1998 Renault Championships. Renault COO Carlos Tavares was in attendance as the fans lapped up the action on the track and the numerous attractions laid on in the tented village. The F1 exhibition by father-and-son duo Alain and Nicolas Prost proving one of the highlights of a memorable event.
The Silverstone round of the World Series by Renault once again proved to be a huge hit with the British public, with around 120,000 motorsport fans turning out for the event. The new Formula Renault 3.5 instantly set pulses racing. Fans caught their first glimpse of Renault Sport Technologies’ new single-seater on Sunday morning, thanks to an on-track demonstration by Romain Grosjean. It was a weekend of doubles on the track, and a few titles were also decided at Silverstone. But for most of the WSR drivers, the championship race continues in earnest at Paul Ricard HTTT before the season finale in Barcelona.
The inclement Hungarian weather did not stop 130,000 race fans from enjoying themselves at Round 6 of the World Series by Renault. Grabbing the headlines on the track were Jean-Eric Vergne, who produced two flawless drives to snatch the lead in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, while Robin Frijns had a hugely productive weekend in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and Stefano Comini continued his domination of the Eurocup Megane Trophy. Also keeping the fans entertained were a host of events organised in conjunction with Renault Hungary, not to mention Robert Wickens’ first few laps in the Lotus Renault R30, one of the highlights of the season so far.

Monaco is a course like no other. Every race driver, in any discipline, wants to win here at least once in their career, to cherish among their list of triumphs and trophies. The circuit is unique, where it requires special skill and dexterity to be as quick as possible while defying the barriers, making the Monaco Grand Prix the ideal place to turn heads. For the last three years, victory in this event has gone to a rookie. Carlos Ghosn was there in person to congratulate Charles Pic at the finish in 2008, while the emotions of Oliver Turvey after his triumph in 2009 remain a vivid memory, as does Daniel Ricciardo’s first win in the discipline in 2010. Ricciardo's victory came just hours before another Australian driver flying Red Bull Racing colours, drove to victory in the F1 Grand Prix, his car also powered by a Renault engine. All these races here will remain as vignettes in the long history associating Renault and Monaco.
After Spa-Francorchamps, the Formula Renault 3.5 field is ready to take on yet another legendary circuit as WSR comes to Monza. Back to Monza, a circuit where the flagship discipline of the World Series by Renault has not been held since 2008. Now, having got the hang of Spa, they will have to master the Monza circuit. It is this circuit's long straights, fast bends, tricky chicanes and dizzyingly fast speeds that have earned it its legendary status. To prepare for this meeting, where the engineers will have to find just the right compromise in terms of settings to be both fast on the straights and efficient through the long bends, many teams have spent time at Monza during the off-season. Robert Wickens and Jean-Éric Vergne, will have their work cut out to defend their lead, while for Daniel Ricciardo and others, in just this third meeting of the season, it is already time for revenge if they are not to let their dreams slip away from them too easily!
The Spa-Francorchamps weekend unfolded in beautiful weather conditions for drivers and spectators alike at the World Series by Renault meeting. Over 60 000 spectators attended the Belgian round on the Ardennes circuit on 30th April/1st May to enjoy the eight races, the side shows and take part in the many activities on offer. Thanks to the help of Renault Belgium/Luxembourg and Renault Sport Technologies, the second round of the World Series by Renault was a big popular success. The crowd took full advantage of all the entertainment and Renault exhibitions, and the village was full until the final shows out on the track. The fans loved all the cars on display at Spa whether they were road-going or competition models, classic cars or single-seaters.
The first World Series by Renault meeting at Motorland Aragon was a huge popular success. 56 000 spectators flocked to the circuit near Alcaniz to see the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, Mégane Trohy and Clio Cup races. The fans were also able to enjoy the show put on by Fairuz Fauzy in the Renault R30, and the acrobatics of the Renault Sport Show professional drivers in Mégane R.Ss. The race simulators in the village met with great success like the Lotus Renault on display, the games for the kids and the many other activities available. After Motorland Aragon the Spa-Francorchamps round looks like being the blue-riband event of the 2011 season. Drivers and motor racing enthusiasts all love the magnificent Belgian circuit so the organizers are expecting a huge crowd to turn up in the Ardennes.
